This cheek design is specifically designed for lifting and controlling the shoulders, rib cage, and hip to allow the rider to keep the horse elevated and round. The Waterford sweet iron mouthpiece flexes in all directions which discourages a horse from leaning on it. Smooth, no-pinch design conforms to the horse’s mouth. Waterford links allow for independent rein action. Sweet iron will rust into a light patina. It imparts a sweet taste to the horse to increase salivation which creates a soft, supple feeling mouth.
